Back to school and back to basics

Uh Oh,
A blog from Kyle usually means a long rant and a cyber wagging of the finger! Well, you’re half right! Let’s get started. First, I just want to thank all my fans of my art and the brand, it really means a lot. It’s grown so much over the past 3.5 years, it’s been fantastic. I know that a majority of my fans are younger or older with responsibilities. I don’t really hit that middle ground demographic, the demographic, I like to call the warped tour demographic. I know what it’s like to be a kid who only gets like 100 bucks a week for 15 hours of work, (stupid part time work rules, blah) and I also know what it’s like to be a grown up to have big boy bills to pay. From here on out things are going to change. I wish I could spew out the massive list of changes coming, but a girl has to have her secrets. So for now, we’re going to cover one topic. PRICE. I’ll be honest, because that’s just the type of person I am, with this summer line, I knew I had something great on my hands, and I got a big head about it. Not just with it being awesome or knowing it would sell, but I knew I could get more money, as a result, I raised my prices. Obviously, the line was a success, as it sold out in weeks, and I had empty shelves for 2 months. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I felt a little bit guilty, like I was being a shit head. Being honest and saying that, of course, is my first step in making it up to you. I also won’t lie when I say that I don’t buy into the same thing with other brands. I buy tons of obey, mishka, and Johnny Cupcakes. Prices, are yes, higher. But, I’m not the same kid going to shows paying $15 bucks for a shirt anymore ( do bands still charge that? god I feel old). I love those brands, but I’ll be honest, would I buy more if they were lower in price? Absolutely. Would other kids and fans buy more if the price is lower? You Betcha. When I first started this brand, I started at 20 and 25 for a shirt. I had a big head at that time as well. Just leaving Rockett, and getting that Warner Bros job, really made me feel confident and free. Once I moved to New York, and I started seeing the big picture. In fact, if I stayed with Warner and Hadn’t have moved here, I would have lost EZ 2 if not 3 years ago. But that’s another story. I marked things down to 16 and 18. I felt like i got better results. So where are we at now? We’re at the 18-20-25 region. Where are we going? After this Back to School sale, we’re going back to the older direction. Shirts will now be 16,18, and 20. 20 for the crazy all over or full color shirts (ie; tough love and fatality) I’m not here to bullshit you or milk your wallets. I’m here as a person who was once one of you. Not saying that I’m not anymore. Things just change once you become the man on the other side of the fence/wall. I know some people will say, spppfff EZ is doing bad. Let me assure you, I am not. huge, Bigger and better things are in store, and I wish I could share them with you all now, but in due time.

What really, really, brought me to this decision, was that nostalgic feeling. In June, I got asked by my friends and one of my favorite bands to do their cd artwork. I felt like I was a 22 year old kid again, just breaking into this business, not in a fan boy type of sense. I design now with a sense of confidence and I wear the big boy pants, but this was a whole different ball game. The pressure, the nervousness, and the fact that this is a landmark stamp in my career. I was floored. It made me remember and appreciate everything I have accomplished and done. One of those, “If you told me when I was 18 seeing New Found Glory for the first time that I would be doing their album layout one day, I wouldn’t believe you”, type feelings. It made me appreciate everything, and it made me realize what is important to me. Electric Zombie is one of those things. I am looking to bringing this to a whole new level, and bringing it back to basics in terms of my mission statement and goals. First step was this blog, second step is price. So, after this back to school sale, those will be the prices from here on out.

Now, the Back to school sale. It’s up now, a day early, as I really didn’t want to wait until tomorrow to write this blog. So I went ahead and slapped it up. You will find tons of things on sale and on final print. I am looking to clear out tons of stuff, so this will be your last chance to get most of these items. If you see the phrase FINAL PRINT, this is it, what’s left is left and it’s gone. After this sale, 80% of the items will be coming down regardless if they are sold out or not. At that point, they will be thrown into size buckets and stored until it’s time to make new grab bags, which are combined with orders every 6 months or so, that got returned, wrong size, or orders of whole sale that couldn’t clear customs/payment (WHOA, THAT’S HOW GRAB BAGS ARE MADE!?!). This includes the summer slasher posters as well. No, they won’t be in grab bags, but I was planning on pulling them sooner, as I was going to start doing horror conventions this year, but instead I am going on tour with New Found Glory and selling EZ on the road, so, I am going to pull them and save them for conventions NEXT YEAR. I can’t express this enough, THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE ON 80% OF THIS STUFF. The Sale is going on from now until Sept 1st. I know some of you might wait until there’s 19k likes on facebook, but there will be no sale, when we hit that mark. I know you might think to yourself, WELL MAYBE 20K! EHHHHHHH (that’s my buzzer noise impression) at 20k, I will be giving a sneak peek of the new line. So as I said, it will be a very very long time before there’s another sale, or a $10 shirt of the week for that matter. Plus as I said, (sorry I am saying this 383748374 times, but sometimes you really have to drive the point home) THIS IS THE LAST TIME TO GET MOST OF THE FINAL PRINT ITEMS!
